With spring approaching, construction on Gilmer Rd & Midlothian Rd is expected to start back up soon!
The contractor is tentatively scheduled to resume work next week, finishing some underground utility work. There will be daily lane closures with arrow boards so the crew can work from the outside lanes to complete the work.
The remaining concrete work is expected to resume in April. That work includes some curb & gutter gaps, sidewalk along Gilmer Rd from Midlothian Rd to Sylvan Dr S, and sidewalk ADA ramps at the intersection. The final landscaping in those areas will follow. The final layer of asphalt surface is expected to be paved in early May, followed by placement of the permanent pavement markings. The traffic signal foundations are complete, so they will also be standing up the new traffic signal equipment soon.
Stay tuned to the website for future updates.
Please drive carefully through the construction zone, refrain from cell phone use, and watch for equipment and workers.
