This week the contractor is continuing traffic signal work at the intersection of Gilmer Rd & Midlothian Rd. Detector loops are being cut into the asphalt base ahead of the final hot-mix asphalt surface being paved.
As soon as weather conditions allow, the contractor will start paving the final 2” of hot-mix asphalt surface. They will be cleaning the pavement and applying a bituminous tack coat (i.e. fresh oil) and joint seal. There will also be some variable depth hot-mix asphalt paved at the intersection and limits of Midlothian Rd to “level” the pavement before the final hot-mix asphalt surface is paved on top. This work is expected to start mid to late this week and continue into next week. The permanent pavement markings will follow.
There will be daily lane closures with flaggers for this upcoming work.
